Jürgen Klopp has been asked about a return to Liverpool.
“Jürgen Klopp has clarified his retirement comments and hinted at a possible return to Liverpool,” British media outlet Sports Bible reported on Tuesday (KST).
Klopp, who led Liverpool to glory, will continue to manage the remainder of the 2023/24 season before ending his glorious eight-and-a-half-year reign at Anfield, where the Reds have won six major trophies under his guidance.
Speaking to LiverpoolFC.com, Klopp explained the reasons for his decision and the timing of today’s announcement, emphasizing the need for clarity as soon as possible to create the conditions for an orderly transition at the right time.
“If you ask me ‘would I be a manager again’, I would say no, not now. But I have never been in that situation, so I can’t say for sure what it would feel like.”
Before Liverpool’s game against Man City, Klopp clarified his retirement comments, telling Sky Sports: “I think other people used that word (retirement) when I made the announcement and I thought it was the right way to put it. I’m going to take a step back from this. I don’t know what happens after that.”
“I don’t know yet,” Klopp said when asked about the possibility of returning to Liverpool as a spectator. “I don’t know [how it would feel], but we’ll see! It would be great if I could go to the stadium 토토 and watch the game from the stands because I’ve been involved in these kinds of games a lot. But I don’t know yet,” he added.
As the time for farewells draws nearer, Liverpool continue to search for the perfect replacement for Klopp. So far, Xabi Alonso, Amorim, Thomas Frank, Julian Nagelsmann, and Postecoglou have been mentioned as possible candidates.
In addition to the search for a new manager, Liverpool is also looking for a sporting director. Former sporting director Michael Edwards is also reportedly set to return to the club in a senior role.
