Armed Forces Men’s Soccer First to Transfer Early
Professional soccer’s K League 2 (2nd Division) Gimcheon Commerce will hold an early retirement ceremony for
2022 Hangzhou Asian Games gold medalist Cho Young-wook.
The Gimcheon club will hold the ceremony at the 37th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 against Gimpo
FC on May 29 at 6:30 p.m. at Gimcheon Sports Complex.
Cho became eligible for special military service after winning a gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games, which
concluded earlier this month. He had been on active duty and received an early discharge after 264 days of
enlistment. It is the first early discharge in men’s soccer since the establishment of the Armed Forces Athletic Corps.
The player reportedly suggested that he wanted to say goodbye to the fans first.
The discharge ceremony will be held after the game, and will include a video screening, presentation of a framed
bouquet of flowers and a bouquet of flowers, presentation of a keepsake, a free hug ceremony, and a group photo.
Cho Young-wook said, “I’m happy to be able to personally say goodbye to the Gimcheon Commerce fans who
have been with me for ten months. I am grateful to the fans for their support during my military service. I will
continue to work hard as a professional player without forgetting their support.” 19가이드03
