FW the hero as he leads side out of relegation zone

Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min missed out on Player of the Month honors despite his best December performance.

The English Premier League announced the winners of the English Premier League’s December Player of the Month awards for the 2023-2024 season on Wednesday. AFC Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke took home the December Player of the Month award.

Son Heung-min was the top performer in December. He used his quick feet to open the scoring in the 14th round match against Manchester City on December 4. He then added an assist in the 24th minute to set up Giovanni Rosselso’s goal. Thanks to Son’s performance, Tottenham earned a point against City.

After a goal-less performance against West Ham United (15R) on Aug. 8, he bounced back at home against Newcastle United in Round 16. Heung-min assisted on goals from Destiny Udoji and Yohan Cabaye in the 26th and 38th minutes, respectively, before converting a penalty in the 40th minute to finish with a goal and two assists.

Against Nottingham Forest, he helped his team to a 2-0 victory with a lively move, and against Everton FC in the 18th round, he scored the winning goal. Without Son’s goal against Everton, Spurs would not have been able to secure all three points.

Heung-min’s performance on Boxing Day was equally impressive. Against Brighton & Hove Albion, Tottenham lost 2-4, but Son came back from 0-4 down to set up Alejo Velis’ goal. Against AFC Bournemouth, he scored the team’s second goal and set up the winner.

Son had a phenomenal December with four goals and four assists. He was also nominated for the December Player of the Month award. Local media even said that Son had a very good chance of winning the award after his incredible December performance.

However, Son didn”t win the December Player of the Month award. Solanke, the Bournemouth striker, won the December Player of the Month award. This was Son’s second award of the season after September, but he lost out to another player.

Solanke scored a whopping six goals in Bournemouth’s six games in December. Although he didn’t record a single assist, Bournemouth won four, drew one, and lost one of their six games in December. Bournemouth climbed out of the relegation zone in December and are currently 12th in the Premier League with 25 points.

Son Heung-min’s Tottenham also won four, drew one, and lost two of their six games in December. Heung-min produced the most offensive points among the December Player of the Month nominees, but the award is likely to go to Solanke, who scored six goals for Bournemouth to lead the team out of the relegation zone.

Solanke becomes the fifth winner of the award this season, following Harry Maguire’s resurgence at Manchester United in November. His teammate James Maddison won the award in August, followed by Son Heung-min (September) and Mohamed Salah (October).
