The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will hand the reins to 71-year-old veteran manager Ron Washington, formerly of the Texas Rangers .The Angels announced today (Sept. 9) that they have signed Washington to a two-year contract. Washington is no stranger to Korean fans, having led the Rangers for eight years until 2014, the first year of Shin-Soo Choo’s seven-year contract with Texas.

General manager Perry Minasian worked with Washington when he was an assistant general manager with the Atlanta Braves. After resigning as Texas manager in 2014 amid off-field personal issues, Washington served as the Oakland Athletics coach in 2015 and then as Atlanta’s third base coach from 2017 until this year. Washington was recognized for his leadership after leading Texas to back-to-back World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011.He compiled a career record of 664-611 and led Texas to two American League West titles. He won 90 or more games in four consecutive seasons from 2010-2013.He excelled at coaching infielders and is known for his leadership and communication skills. The Angels also carefully considered former New York Mets manager Buck Showalter as a candidate for their new 바카라사이트 manager before settling on Washington, MLB.com reported.
