The Kiwoom Heroes have a triple gift for their home fans. In their final home game of the season against the Samsung Lions at Gocheok SkyDome on Tuesday.
Kiwoom defeated Samsung 5-3 on the day. They gave up a 3-0 lead to tie the game at 3-3. Later in the game, they gave up three runs in the top of the eighth inning.
However, they turned it around in the bottom of the eighth. Lim Ji-yeol hit a two-run homer to regain the lead at 5-3 and held on for the win. They won their final game at home to extend their winning streak to three games.
They added to their win total and swapped places with the Hanwha Eagles. They are out of last place (10th) for the first time in a long time.
In addition, Lee Jung-hoo (outfielder), who has been rehabilitating after surgery due to an injury, made his return to the field as a substitute in the bottom of the eighth inning. Lee will be eligible to go overseas after this season.
If he succeeds in reaching the Major League Baseball (MLB), this will be his last game in front of his home fans. After the final home game, Kiwoom head coach Hong Won-ki said, “I’m most happy that we were able to give a victory to the many fans who came to the Gocheok Sky Dome,” adding, “I would like to thank them for their loud cheers and support this season.”
“Kim Sun-ki pitched a perfect game until the fifth inning and shut down the opposing batters,” said Hong. “At the plate, Kim Hye-sung (two hits, including a double) did a great job leading off the game. Kim Hye-sung’s hit was the game-winner and Lim Ji-yeol’s two-run shot was crucial.”
Lee Jung-hoo’s return was also a good 토토 thing for Hong. “We are fortunate to have Lee Jung-hoo back in good health,” Hong said, adding, “If we were going overseas, it would have been a great gift for the fans to see him at home.”
Hong and his players still have two games left in the regular season. They will travel to Gwangju (KIA Tigers) on Nov. 11 and Incheon (SSG Landers) on Nov. 13. Meanwhile, the Heroes opened the grounds to spectators after the final home game.
