Chae Eun-sung, who started as the third batter and first baseman of Nanum All-Star (Kiem, LG, KIA, NC, Hanwha) in the 2023 KBO All-Star Game, hit a timely double that became the final hit of the game in the first inning with one out. Chae Eun-sung, who finished preheating pleasantly, did not miss Koo Seung-min (Lotte)’s 141km/h fastball in the middle in his third at-bat with two outs and a full base in the fourth inning. The ball flew straight over the left fence and became a grand slam.
Chae Eun-sung is the second player in history to have a grand slam in the KBO All-Star Game. The first in history was launched by Kim Yong-hee, chairman of the KBO game management committee (then Lotte), at Dongdaemun Stadium in 1982, the first year of professional baseball.
Nanum All-Star beat Dream All-Star (SSG, KT, Samsung, Lotte, Doosan) 8-4 thanks to 5 RBIs, including Chae Eun-sung’s grand slam, and Chae Eun-sung was selected as the MVP with 56 votes out of 61 votes. Chae Eun-sung is the first in history to monopolize the home run race and MVP in the KBO All-Star Game.
The second half of the KBO League will begin on the 21st. Chae Eun-sung, who had the best result in the All-Star Game, also expressed his desire to convey this energy to the team. He said, “The atmosphere of the team is good. “I want to contribute to the team’s rise by taking good energy,” he said.
