The Hanwha Eagles defeated the Kiwoom Heroes in extra innings to clinch the best-of-seven series.
Hanwha won 5-4 against Kiwoom in the 2023 Shinhan Bank Solar KBO League at the Gocheok SkyDome on Saturday.
With the win, Hanwha (36 wins, 4 losses, 42 draws) moved out of the tiebreaker and into sole possession of eighth place. It also clinched the best-of-seven series.
With back-to-back losses, Kiwoom (40W2D49L) dropped to ninth place.
Hanwha scored the winning run in the 10th inning of extra innings when Noh Si-hwan drove in the winning run with a bases-loaded single. Starter Moon Dong-joo pitched five innings of six-hit ball (one homer) with two walks and two runs.
Kiwoom’s offense was overshadowed by Ian McKinney’s seven innings of work (four runs, two earned) and Ronnie Dawson’s three-hit blast, including a home run.

Kim tied the game at one. In the bottom of the eighth, Kim Hye-sung and Dawson walked to put runners on first and third, and Lee Won-seok hit a single to right. Lee Hyung-jong then walked on an automatic high pitch to load the bases, and Joo Sung-won hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game.
Hanwha had the last laugh. In the top of the 10th, leadoff hitter Williams reached first base on a throwing error by shortstop Kim Joo-hyung, and Jung Eun-won followed with a single to left.
