Suwon Samsung’s ‘final weapon’ has arrived. Suwon Samsung, led by head coach Kim Byung-soo, announced the signing of Brazilian striker Weric Popo, who will wear the number 45. Born in 2001, he is 1.90 meters tall and is said to have both flexibility and speed. His strengths include his aggressive burst and quick shooting timing.
He played for Bragançinho in the Brazilian league with Oeschi FC. He has 34 goals and four assists in 85 career appearances. Last year, he scored 22 goals in 47 games for Oeschi and Bragançinho. Most recently, he played for Red Bull Bragançinho in the Brazilian First Division.
“I am very happy to be part of the Suwon team. I will give everything I have to help Suwon get out of the crisis. I want to leave my mark as a successful player in the K League.”
Suwon, the ‘House of Tradition’, is experiencing a crisis in the 토토 2023 season. After going winless in their opening 10 games of the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023, Suwon made a midseason managerial change. After firing Lee Byung-geun in mid-April, the team handed the reins to Kim Byung-soo. However, the turnaround has not been easy. Suwon is still at the bottom of the table with three wins, six draws and 14 losses (15 points) in 23 league games.
Suwon has nowhere to turn. It’s played its last card. In the summer transfer window, Suwon strengthened its roster by signing “veteran defender” Kim Joo-won. He embraced midfielder Kazuki (Japan) in the Asian quarterfinals. Kim’s “protégé” Lee Kom-yeol also joined the team. This is a similar number of signings to the six (Kim Kyung-joong, Acosti, Bassani, Kim Bo-kyung, Mullich, and Han Ho-gang) made in the winter transfer window. Suwon also made some changes to the existing squad. ‘One Club Man’ Min Sang-ki will be transferred to Busan I-Park of the K League 2 (2nd Division) on loan. <Sports Chosun July 19 exclusive report
Suwon changed its coach and squad in an effort to revitalize the team. The team is unbeaten in its last four games (1 win, 3 draws) and is slowly building an upward trend. On July 15, they beat Ulsan Hyundai for their first win at home this season. Suwon will host Gangwon FC on the 22nd. Gangwon (16 points) is in 11th place. They are one point behind Suwon. Depending on the outcome of that match, the standings could change.
