Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is officially supporting the Seoul 2024 Homeless World Cup.
“We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the Homeless World Cup Foundation, which organizes the annual Homeless World Cup with the aim of supporting and inspiring homeless people to transform their lives,” FIFA announced on its official website on Wednesday. The tournament will take place over seven days from September 21-28 at 해외 카지노 사이 Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea.
The Homeless World Cup has been held every year since 2003 in Graz, Austria, with the exception of 2020 and 2022, when it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s edition in Seoul will be the first to be held in Asia. It will feature 64 teams from 49 countries and more than 500 participants, with 44 men’s and 20 women’s teams competing.
Through this memorandum of understanding, FIFA will broadcast the tournament live on its streaming platform, FIFA+. It will also produce and supply materials and equipment for the tournament, including medals and trophies, and will explore co-branding, including social media platforms for venues and stadiums. The agreement will help raise awareness of the Homeless World Cup and increase its international visibility.
“The Homeless World Cup is a perfect example of how football can challenge social perceptions and bring people together to improve lives,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “We are delighted to contribute to the Homeless World Cup and, starting with the tournament in Seoul, we will help to ensure that the tournament continues to have a real impact in supporting homeless people around the world.”
“We are delighted to sign a partnership agreement that will significantly enhance the Seoul 2024 Homeless World Cup,” said Mel Young, Chairman of the Homeless World Cup Foundation. “The Homeless World Cup functions as a way to improve the lives of homeless people through soccer, with 1.2 million people benefiting from the tournament since its inception in 2003. Sport has real power, and we have proven that it can be a force for good,” said FIFA President Sepp Blatter.
“FIFA is committed to supporting those in need, so our collaboration with the Homeless World Cup is a natural fit. In the long term, the impact of this MoU will be significant,” said Mr. Hwang, who looks forward to continuing to work with FIFA.
South Korea, which is hosting the Seoul 2024 Homeless World Cup, selected 11 reserve players for the national team in July and held a training camp from July 29 to August 2. Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich, who also visited Korea as part of the Coupang Play Series, organized a special time for the Korean reserve squad to meet with players and train with coaches.
