On the 17th, the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation dispatched two Taekwondo instructors and one staff member to Baeknyeong Elementary School on Baeknyeong Island, the northernmost island in the West Sea.
The instructors, who left Jeonbuk Muju Taekwondo Center at dawn, arrived at Baeknyeong Island after about 8 hours and conducted Taekwondo classes for all 37 students at Baeknyeong Elementary School.
The teachers’ group was originally scheduled to move to Baekhak Middle School in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do, where the next educational program will be held on the 18th.
But there was a problem. All boat services to Baeknyeong Island were cut off due to the heavy rain that fell across the country. The teachers were stranded on Baeknyeong Island.
After receiving related contact from the instructors’ group, the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation dispatched two instructors from the Taekwondo Center to Yeoncheon County.
The teachers successfully completed the Taekwondo training scheduled for all 48 students at Baekhak Middle School.
A foundation official told Yonhap News Agency in a phone call, “We considered canceling the program due to the heavy rain, but we could not break our promise with the students who were waiting for special education.” He added, “Fortunately, there were other teachers who could travel to Yeoncheon, and we were able to proceed with the program as planned.”
Since 2016, the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation has been carrying out the ‘Taekwondo Career Experience Program’, which dispatches Taekwondo instructors to schools and institutions around the country to teach Taekwondo and introduce Taekwondo-related occupations.
This year, we are carrying out educational donation activities by selecting 20 schools and institutions across the country.
In the first half of the year, approximately 1,000 youths from 10 schools and institutions in remote island areas, including Yeongheung Elementary School in Ongjin-gun, Incheon, Cheongshin Girls’ Middle School in Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, and the Special Education Support Center of Geochang Education Support Office in Gyeongnam, benefited from education. 파워볼사이트
