Eddie Howe Newcastle manager
Eddie Howe, manager of Newcastle United in the English Premier League (EPL), who is most likely to be mentioned as the next manager for the vacant England national soccer team position, has announced that he will remain with the club.
On the 20th (Korean time), the British BBC released an interview with Manager Howe, who said, “I will commit to Newcastle as long as I feel happy and supported.”
“I love the supporters, the players and the staff,” said Howe. “There is nothing else on my mind. I am just focused on Newcastle.”
With England manager Gareth Southgate announcing his resignation right after the team finished runners-up at Euro 2024, Howe is seen as a strong candidate to take over.
Earlier, Newcastle chief executive Darren Eales warned that if the Football Association (FA) tries to appoint Howe as head coach of the national team, they will “fight and defend it at all costs”, emphasizing that “Howe has already signed a multi-year contract extension”.
Coach Howe also dismissed the ‘next manager theory’ by choosing Newcastle instead of the national team.
“Newcastle is an unbelievable club. I am proud and honoured to be their manager,” said Howe. “It is only natural that I start the season as Newcastle’s manager.”
He continued, “I want to manage Newcastle for a long, long time. My promise will not change.” He added, “I imagine bringing trophies to Newcastle every day. I want to bring joy to the supporters.”
Howe, who took charge of Newcastle in November 2021, led the team to fourth place in the English Premier League (EPL) in the 2022-2023 season and advanced to the UEFA Champions League (UCL) finals.
If the FA fails to quickly appoint a new manager, England will have to play the UEFA Nations League in September under an interim manager. 안전놀이터
