“Yesterday’s game was just yesterday, and today I focused on today”

Ko Woo-seok reveals how he didn’t let a Game 1 loss in the Korean Series get him down.

The LG Twins won Game 2 of the Korean Series against the KT Wiz 5-4 in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO postseason at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Monday.

Park Dong-won’s dramatic come-from-behind two-run homer in the eighth inning gave LG the lead. Go Woo-seok then took the mound in the ninth inning. He pitched a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts to earn the save.

Speaking to the media after the game, Go said, “I’m feeling a little better after a day off yesterday,” and revealed his current status.

The previous day, Ko entered the game in the top of the ninth inning with the score tied at 2-2 and got two outs. However, he gave up a nine-pitch walk to Choi Jae-dae and a two-run double to Moon Sang-chul to take the loss.

When asked about his preparation for today’s game after yesterday’s loss, he said, “Yesterday’s game was just yesterday, and I thought, ‘Let’s focus on today.

Go Woo-seok had trouble with his fastball in the first inning. “The manager told me that I needed to learn how to make my pitches catch when they don’t,” he said. “Hyun-soo (Kim), Ji-hwan (Oh) asked me if I was okay, and Chan-kyu (Lim) also said good things. I had failed in the previous postseason. It was a different feeling, but it helped.”

LG attempted to win the Korean Series for the first time in 29 years, but suffered a shocking Game 1 loss. “Even after the loss, there wasn’t much of a 안전놀이터 difference,” said Ko, adding that the team’s mood was still good.

“I’m glad we were able to hold on for the win in my first Korean Series. I was more happy about Dong-won’s home run today. We should have hit it together, but it was unfortunate that we couldn’t because we were preparing.”
